Mission 5: Resilient Critical Infrastructures
This mission investigates how the functionality, partial functionality, or emergency operation of both public and private mobile networks can be ensured even in the event of failure. This considers failure scenarios ranging from minor disruptions to widespread outages. To mitigate the increased resource consumption caused by resilience mechanisms, the focus is on application-specific resilience, where only critical applications continue to operate. For this purpose, mechanisms for managing and connecting isolated subnetworks, e.g., through NTN or non-3GPP solutions, as well as guarantees for machine learning-based procedures, are being investigated.
